Manufacturing
Behind each of our products is a story and a person who wants to share their skills, traditions and passion. For many of them, it is not only their own livelihood that depends on these skills and abilities, but also their family's future, provision for old age and a bit of security in a country characterized by unpredictability and chaos. Each of our products is carefully handcrafted by them for fair livable wage. Our products may not be perfect, but they are unique. We therefore ask you to regard our dimensions as a guide. Here and there, the individual product’s dimensions may deviate slightly.
Some of our fabrics are not only sewn by hand, but also woven by hand, with specially harvested cotton that has been spun by hand for generations. Many of the regions where this work is traditionally carried on remain barely accessible to this day and are cut off from the rest of the country, especially during the rainy season. By purchasing and processing these valuable weaving materials, we strive to keep these small family businesses going and support the livelihoods of these artisans who barely have access to the market, let alone tourists.
At our Atutu headquarters in Yangon, our textile products are sewn by hand by our employees. During their one-year training program with us, they not only learn to sew, but are also introduced to various topics related to intercultural cooperation and business management. The intensive English instruction is also designed to help them have more opportunities in the job market or when starting their own businesses in the future. We want our employees to have the freedom and know-how to step out on their own and succeed if ever they felt the desire to to do so.
Care
Textiles:
We recommend washing our textile products at 30°C with similarly colored products in a regular washing cycle and air drying to avoid extra wear. The first wash should be done alone to ensure if any color bleeding occurs it does not discolor any other items.
